GrammaTech Awarded DARPA Research Contract Worth Over $1.5 Million

Ithaca, NY -- GrammaTech, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a $1,515,701 contract for research to develop design and assessment techniques and tools for information assurance. The 27-month agreement, "Dependence Graphs for Information Assurance of Systems," is funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of Arlington, Va., as part of its Information Assurance Science and Engineering Tools (IASET) program.

"GrammaTech will develop enhanced techniques and tools that provide assurance in the security of a system and in its resilience to damage," said Carla L. Burns, program manager in the directorate's Information Technology division. "They will develop a tool that supports the static analysis of dependencies in systems -- and mechanisms that exploit such dependence models -- to address information assurance and system needs during design and assessment."

Information Assurance is regarded as crucial to Department of Defense efforts to counter cyber aggression and meet the challenges of the information age. A broad range of potential threats exists to the military's information infrastructure and its ability to maintain information superiority in future conflicts.
